Everyone would be happy to know that there is a fine weather prediction for all three days of Easter! Hordes of campers have been allowed into the camping area to pitch their tents and are setting up in nice sunny, dry weather and the campground is filling up really fast. Box office is all set up and ready and people have been in and out purchasing tickets all day - all tickets are still available at the gate, or avoid the queue by buying online HERE. Exhibitioners have also arrived and are busy setting up their exhibition sites ready for the big day tomorrow.

Everything is falling into place nicely here at Queen's Park - we've had a few light showers here today and will have some light drizzles tomorrow, but the forecast for the rest of the weekend will be mostly sunny. Mainstage is starting to look like Mainstage and the Kids Corner looks fantastic. We've had poor YWAMers pro-flooring all day (pro-flooring is always back-breaking work) and the guys in the Superstore have been working very hard to get everything ready for eager shoppers.

Today the lighting rig is being flown for the 96five Big Top and we're bumping in audio and lighting for the Red Frogs Circus and Alley as well. Only three days to go and still lots to be done!

Mainstage is starting to take shape and the weather is looking good. The weather prediction for Easter weekend is rain and showers along the coast... but it is looking great in Toowoomba. So if there was ever a reason to head to Easterfest instead of the beach for Easter...this is it. Although, be prepared for some foggy Toowoomba mornings.

Things definitely didn't quieten down over the weekend - everyone in the Easterfest office have now officially moved into the park and structures have been going up left and right. Things are really starting to look and feel like Easterfest!!

7 Days To Go!

Looking at the empty Seven Mainstage Entry area it is hard to believe that tens of thousands of people will be swarming through there in exactly 7 days to watch our first Headline acts perform!

Construction in all areas is in full swing and the guys (and girls) are slaving away in beautiful (but hot!) sunny weather. The SU Queensland Kids World corner is coming along nicely with tents starting to go up and sand being shoveled into the Giant Sandpit (a firm favourite with the kids every year). This area is where the Easter egg hunt will be and there will be a free family pass for Australia Zoo up for grabs!

You'd be happy to know that everything so far is running smoothly and according to schedule.

So much to do, so little time!

With Easterfest only a week away the pressure is on to get everything up and done in time.

A million different things are happening simultaneously today - the Red Frogs Circus is halfway complete, they're busy putting up the canvas for the Alley Stage, they're drilling in pegs for the 96five Big Top, panels for the exhibition sites and Superstore are going up in the big Telstra Entry Paviliion and the Crew Tent area is complete just to name a few.

The boys (and girls) really have their hands full... Good luck guys!

The Entry Tent Is Up!

The Easterfest crew has been slaving away in sunny temperatures of up to 28 degrees celsius and the big Entry tent has gone up in record timing!

Last night there was nothing but the big steel king poles and by mid morning today the Entry tent was up. If that's not enough they have also completed the Hammered Silver Epicentre.

Everything is looking fantastic and you can really start to feel the Easterfest atmosphere whilst walking through Queen's Park. Only 9 days to go!

The Easterfest crew started at the crack of dawn this morning. Their mission - get the entry tent up in record time! This super-structure covers the best part of a footy field. The canvas alone weighs about 10 tonne and that is before you take into consideration the weight of the six 18m long steel king poles or the 140 steel side poles and 1m long steel pegs!

Other venues on the 'to-do' list today include the crew dining tent, security shelters and comms and electrical shelter.

Oh... and in case you haven't seen it on our facebook page... the long range weather forecast for Easter weekend is looking very encouraging....

In an attempt to minimise disruption & inconvenience to the local Toowoomba community please find below an outline of the setup, event & pack down schedule for Easterfest 2010 in Queens Park.

Monday March 22

7am - official Easterfest booking of Queens Park begins
First infrastructure will start to be setup
Pedestrian access through the park will only be restricted by specific infrastructure but due care should be taken by all members of the public

Tuesday March 23

Construction of lower festival site fencing begins but regular gaps will be left including all major pathways for easy pedestrian access

Wednesday March 24

From 7pm - Lower festival site will be completely closed to the public from dusk to dawn
General pedestrian traffic across the festival site will be restricted for the safety of the general public, signage will indicate alternate routes
The concrete footpath running from the corner of Chalk Dr & Hume St to Lindsay St will be open during daylight hours but pedestrians will be restricted to the footpath only
The concrete footpath around the top of the Frog's Hollow amphitheatre will be inaccessible 24 hours per day in the vicinity of the amphitheatre
All other paths will be open to pedestrian traffic

Friday March 26

From 7pm - Lower festival site will be completely closed to the public at all times
The concrete footpath running from Chalk Dr to Lindsay St will be inaccessible 24 hours per day from Chalk Dr to the toilet block in the middle of Queens Park
Signage will indicate alternate pedestrian routes

Tuesday March 30

Construction of outer festival site & campground fence begins but regular gaps will be left including major pathways for easy pedestrian access
Lower festival site will remain closed to public access

Wednesday March 31

From 7pm - Outer festival fence will be closed to all free public access for the duration of the event - the top oval at Lindsay St & a large portion of the 'dog off leash' area near the end of Godsall St plus both playground areas in Queens Park will remain outside the Easterfest fenceline

Thursday April 1

From 10am - Campers start arriving at Queens Park
10am to 8pm - Limited amplified noise for the purpose of system checks

Friday April 2 - Sunday April 4

8am to midnight - Festival gates open for ticketed public entry
8am to midnight - Indoor amplified music
Midday to 10pm - Outdoor amplified music

Monday April 5

All campers to have left Queens Park by midday
From midday - begin dismantling outer festival fence
Lower festival site still closed to public access but unrestricted pedestrian access to outer festival site

Tuesday April 6

From 7am - Restricted access available to general pedestrian traffic across the festival site, signage will indicate alternate routes

The concrete footpath running from the corner of Chalk Dr & Hume St to Lindsay St will be open during daylight hours but pedestrians will be restricted to the footpath only

The Calm Before the Storm

As far as bump-in days go it doesn't get much better than this. Temperature in the low 20s, nice cloud cover and no rain!

Today is all about shipping containers and site offices arriving. The trick is to make sure everything is put in exactly the right place so that all the tents and big infrastructure fits when it arrives. One mistake in the layout at this stage means hours of wasted time later in the week. The guys have already spent a few days measuring and 'marking-out' the park... and so far it is all coming together like clock-work.

The main venue arriving on site today is the Hammered Silver Epicentre. Until 2005, this tent was used as the main entry tent for the festival. In comparison to the Big Top and Circus it looks small - but this is no little 'party marquee' - coming in at a credible 18m x 54m.

The setup has begun for Easterfest 2010! Queen's Park is in perfect condition with beautiful, thick, green grass and a brand new amphitheatre waiting quietly for the mainstage to arrive in a week.

It has been a nice casual start to what will end up being a massive construction site within two weeks. The first tents to go in are two small 'hoecker' frame structures that will end up being the Compassion Marquee and the Vision Arena.

Both these tents are sourced from our favourite event hire company in Australia - GC Event Hire. Seriously, if you ever need to hire tents, chairs, flooring or just about anything else... give these guys a call (and no, we don't get paid a commission!!).

The first wave of Easterfest site crew arrive this Sunday afternoon - complete with several trailer loads of electronic and electrical equipment. No one in the office really knows when our head technician Glyn Carter will arrive, but then again at this point, it is highly unlikely even he knows!

It will all be pretty quiet in Queen's Park over the weekend, so expect the next construction update on Monday.

As I Lay Dying is an award winning metalcore band from San Diego, California and the Knoxville Tennessee band, Disciple has matured from an aggressive metal band to a quartet with a strong sense of melody and penchant for the unexpected.
